Lucila Franco

Lucila R. Franco, 77, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Dolores Rodriguez; husband, Juan Franco, son, Juan Franco III and brother, Armando Rodriguez. She is survived by her children: Sons: Ivan (Claudia) Franco and Isaac John (Shelby) Franco and Daughters: Eileen (John) Hensley and Iris (Jose) Mendoza, 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Manuel Rodriguez and Hector Rodriguez.  Pallbearers:  Xavier Galan, Joey Davis, Dylan Franco, Raul Hidalgo, Samuel Franco and Michael Grijalva Jr..  Rosary: 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church in Pasadena, Texas followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.  Services directed by Integrity Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Cemetery - (713) 991-2313.

Lucila Rodriguez was born on January 16, 1943 in the small farming community of Clint, Texas to her loving parents Manuel and Dolores Rodriguez. She was the oldest of four and the only daughter. She was a happy child as there was always music being played inside the Rodriguez household. This in turn led to her favorite past times dancing, singing and her love for Elvis. This is when being the only daughter had its advantages because she had several dance partners her dad and brothers.

Her childhood years were spent with her being very active in school. She played all sports with basketball being her favorite. In high school she was also a cheerleader and part of the homecoming court. It was her beauty and her larger-than-life personality that caught the eye of her high school sweetheart Johnny Franco. She graduated high school in 1962. When her high school sweetheart was drafted, she kept herself busy working at the local factory until his return. They were married in December 1965 and had 5 children.

They eventually moved to Houston in 1982. She worked her way up to an apartment manager. She decided to change careers and started working at Kroger as a baker until she retired. Lucy made many lifelong friends along the way. Her beautiful personality was almost as magnetic as her beauty.

Her retirement years were spent with Johnny (even though they might not have wanted to spend quite so much time together). She loved her dogs, Azuquita, Tootsie and Canelo. She loved to garden and most of all to spend time with her family. She rarely missed any of her grandchildren’s activities or events.

Lucy was truly one of a kind. Her spirit could not be matched. She loved big! She loved music, dancing, singing with mariachis but most of all her family. Words cannot express how greatly she will be missed by her children and grandchildren.

We know she is exactly where she is meant to be next to our Savior Jesus Christ. She is reuniting and rejoicing with her beloved family. We know in our deepest of hearts she is dancing with our daddy and the whole time she is telling him that her wings are bigger than his and that she needs more glitter on them.

The Franco family expresses their deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to everyone for their prayers, concern, kindness and expressions of love shown to us during this time of bereavement.  May God bless you always.

We will gather immediately after the funeral services at the Fairmont Park church gymnasium that allows plenty of space for social distancing located at 10401 Belfast Rd, La Porte, TX 77571 for a fellowship.
